Probably junked because of the missing catalytic converter. the owner probably reported the stolen cat to the insurance and then they didnt want to repair because of age so it got scrapped instead? atleast that is what happens where i am from

there was a place in miami I had mine redone. they put the lathe markes back in the wheel and it looked factory.. unfortunately they are no longer therei. i have very rare set of 1993 machined face zr1 rear wheels id love to have redone, even thought i no longer have the car.

i started this process and quickly gave up.. i didnt like the chromed shined look compared to the machined finish

Most of the body on my mk 3 was rust free. Pretty good considering I live in wisconsin, everything gets rusty here. But I ended up having to replace the rear hatch after it rusted through on the edge just below the window. Found one from down south same color and rust free. Swapped that out , but in a couple of years I saw the paint bubbling loose in the same spot as the rust holes were. Every mk 3 I have ever seen has that same problem.

front wheel bearings can be a pita... not something you do preventative. Even if they start making noise chances are they'll still get you home. those probably still had a lot of life in them.
